3rd Sunday of Advent

For traditional Catholics, the third Sunday of Advent is the message about St. John the Baptist when he was basically asked: “Who are you?” He replied: “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness…”

With Christmas just a short time away we Catholics have tried to make our voices heard. But we often wonder if anyone is listening.

With the third Sunday, the uneasy peace was disturbed. It wasn’t with mass protests and attempted burnings. Instead, it was the gathering in some of the shopping malls in Hong Kong. There, police and protesters clashed with each other.

The Christmas message seems to be lost especially upon the protesters. Before clashing with police they would try to frighten mall customers and call them names and “how dare they eat at that place.” They have no love for their fellow man. They only know how to hate.
