Fear (again)
We have brought up the topic of fear before and will continue to do so when needed. For many states feel that fear is the only way to control their people
The HK government continues to bring up the error of not playing the Chinese national anthem when HK won a rugby match in South Korea. They are in the middle of a police investigation about the incident as well as creating new rules that HK sports teams must obey. If they don’t obey then there is a chance that those sports teams eliminated from playing or have various contracts canceled.
But will all the new rules help anyone? The Church says “probably not.” “They [the State]supply themselves with the power of laws, and think to coerce, by the severity of their punishment, those who disturb their governments. They are right to a certain extent, but yet should seriously consider that no power of punishment can be so great that it alone can preserve the State.”
It goes on to say that fear works only so far. For there comes a point where society no longer fears the state and rises up.
