Passion Week reflections

Passion Sunday remembers the most saddest time in all of human history. The day that people took up stones and tried to kill Christ. It was so horrible that Christ had to hide Himself and left.

This is what is happening in the world today. People who claim to be religious (and even against religion) pick up tools to kill those who disagree with them. Many times the faithful have to hide themselves so that they can continue on the work of the Church. Then they leave those who attacked them to their own wants and even destruction.

But the week is also filled with hope. For it tells the story of Jonas and the city of Ninive. Once the king of Ninive heard that his city would be destroyed by God he declared fasting and penance by the people and hoped that God would turn away His anger. Thus, God did show mercy.

This is what can happen to the people of today. If they turn away from themselves and do penance for their transgressions then, perhaps, God will also have mercy on them.

But if the people continue to attack God then they can only expect that God will not have mercy on them. That their judgment will be most terrible.
