Apologies for whom?
Last Sunday another protest was staged. It was deemed an illegal march because it didn’t receive permission from the police. They marched anyways as was expected.
They marched up a major street called Nathan Road. Following the protesters were the police and their water cannon truck. The truck was filled with blue dye so that it would be easier to label people who were at the protest. The dye was added because many protesters changed clothes after they were finished.
As the truck came up Nathan Road it sprayed a mosque and a church with blue dye. The people at the mosque were outraged and how dare the police spray a place of worship with dye. The protesters came back and actually helped the people to clean around the mosque.
The next day the Chief Executive and a few other officials went to the mosque and apologized for the water truck.
The protestant church was a historical building that got blue dye. Yet no one helped clean it up nor did anyone from the government come to them and apologized.
The best the church was able to receive was a blanket apology, from the police, when they apologized for the dye on the mosque as well as several other businesses and a church.
It seems that the Hong Kong government is more concerned with what the Muslims feel more than what protestants feel. It seems to be clear where the Hong Kong government stands on how various religions feel.
