Resting?
It has been nearly a quiet week for protests as we head into the weekend. Will it last? Or will everyone be rested and continue the violence that has been commonplace for both sides?
This week the protesters have used flash raids against the transportation system. They have attacked both buses and the MTR and then quickly disappeared into the darkness from which they came from.
The police have also been largely quiet. Few mass arrests or the use of tear gas against anyone standing around. Perhaps this is the time they are also getting ready for a weekend that no one knows what will happen.
The Hong Kong government has started to launch attacks against the protesters. The Education Bureau (EDB) has urged schools to suspend teachers who have been arrested during the course of protests. The EBD says it’s not to punish the schools or teachers but “for the children.” It is unknown what pressure the EDB has put on school administrations so that arrested teachers will be “suspended.”
With the weekend coming all we can do is hope and pray that it will be a quiet one.
