A little prevention
On Saturday, 25 January, the HK government has finally announced some measures to combat the ongoing health crisis. It may be a little too late but we suppose it is better than their previous attempts at doing nothing.
First, they will have all travelers fill in a health declaration form when they enter HK. This is an about change of pace as they earlier said that they didn’t want to inconvenience passengers by filling out these forms. We guess now they either want to inconvenience passengers or it is no longer an inconvenience to anyone.
Next, they have closed schools down for an extra two weeks. Most schools were scheduled to return on 3 February. Now they will, for the moment, return 2 weeks later. This is good because of the number of families that travel to China for Lunar New Year as well as the number of Chinese students who cross the border every day to attend school in HK.
But we are still concerned about the wearing of face masks. One the one hand the government has urged people to wear masks in public places for health reasons and this is good. On the other hand, they are still pursuing legal action about the face mask law that is currently in place; thus you can be arrested for wearing a mask.
The world still has a long way to go before this current health crisis is over.
