Elections
It is Sunday here in Hong Kong and it is election day for District officers. Why is this important? For the most part, it is not. For if this was any other election year the voter turnout would be average and not many people would be interested in seeing who actually won.
However, this is not a normal election year because of the ongoing protests. This election cycle is basically a mandate on the government. The election is between pro-government candidates and anti-China candidates. Whoever wins the most districts will set up the race for the important position of running for Legislative officer.
Everyone has an interest in the results of this election. From the common Hong Konger all the way up to the leadership in China. While the vote is still going on it will be interesting to see what party wins and what the other side, and China, will do about it.
Tradition states that God gives the people elected officers that best match their morals and values. We will watch and see what kind of morals and values Hong Kong has.
