Feast Days

The end of May and the beginning of June there are many feast days for the Church. Feast days such as Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Important days all of them as they convey certain beliefs that the faithful needs to be reminded of.

It doesn’t matter what feast day it is. What is important that we remember it and that we try to learn something from it. For example – The Queenship. Here, the Church wants us to remember that wherever Mary is Queen, Christ is King be it in our own homes or in our countries where we live.

In Hong Kong, these days have passed without much notice. It is not surprising. For Communists do not wish to see anyone superior than them. They hate the notion that they will be judged for their actions.

Recently, it was the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square killings. Predictably the government suppressed all public knowledge of it and questioned many people who they thought were a threat to national security. We wouldn’t have been surprised if anyone saying their rosary (and carrying a rosary) would also have been questioned (but nothing was reported for this year).

But whatever feast day is upon us it is the time to think about various lessons of the Church and how they can be applied to today.
