Feast of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On 7 October 1571 badly number Christian forces fought and defeated a much superior Muslim force at the Battle of Lepanto.
Prior to this battle, Pope Pius V urged the various Christian leaders of Europe to put aside their differences and combine forces to defeat the Muslim threat before it was too late. They eventually did. He also the people of Europe to pray and fast for a victory.
On the day of battle Pope Pius V was at work when he suddenly rose from his chair, looked out the window towards Heaven and said to those around him: “We must no longer talk of business; what we have now is to do is to thank God for the brilliant victory He has just granted to the Christians.” In this honor, he instituted the feast of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose help he had fervently implored. Pius V also inserted into her Litany the invocation “Help of Christians, pray for us.”
If only both sides of the conflict in Hong Kong would turn to Mary and ask for her help those who suffer would no longer have to. The violence and evil of these Hong Kong days would end.
But we think there are few Christians on both sides because both sides advocate evil and we suppose are lead by evil. Without Our Lady’s help Hong Kong will suffer greatly for their sins.
