Gates of Hell?
Since the beginning of the protests, both sides (police and protesters) have slowly dragged the rest of Hong Kong down the path that leads to the gates of Hell.
Both sides have increased the violence and both sides refuse to back down or even compromise. They just keep escalating the violence and it was only a matter of time before people got seriously hurt. The time has finally come.
Both sides tend to have evilness about them as they prepare to do battle on a weekly basis. They neither ask nor give quarter. They just take and don’t really care who gets hurt (as long as it’s the other side). They view themselves as proud and right and feel they can do no wrong and the other side can do no right.
Over the past weekend, it was nearly calm. On Saturday they had a memorial for the student who died. We all hoped it would remain calm for the rest of the weekend but it was not to be.
On Sunday the protesters were out on the streets again combating the police. While both sides sparred with each other neither side really pushed the limits and one could say it was better than most nights.
On Monday a general disruption was called especially against road and rail targets. The first problem was that the police shot a protester with live ammunition which severely wounded the protester. It is not sure why the police fired but the results were the same. Revenge was called against the police.
The protesters also decided to go on the offensive against those who did not agree with them. A few stories have come out that those people whom didn’t agree with them were doused in liquid and set on fire.
Now the city is holding its breath as the protests go into the night. But it is clear that both sides have ramped up the violence to a new level and perhaps even have unlocked the gates of Hell. Only time will tell for sure.
