Holy Week

The start of Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. It is the time when the Church remembers
Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. It is also the time when the faithful look forward to Easter and Christ’s victory over death.

The Communist history of Hong Kong can be compared to Holy Week. With Palm Sunday it can be considered the time when Hong Kong returned back to China and a great hope and fear embraced the city.

Holy Week could be considered from the time of returning to the start of the 2019 protests and the changing of the attitude by the Hong Kong and Chinese leaders for the city.

Good Friday is the start of National Security Law and the crackdown of any dissent by the people of Hong Kong.

Easter would be the victory of Christ and His Church over the forces of Communism. The people will return to the true faith and the leaders will do what they can to maintain their power. But they will fail for no force will stop Christ from returning and the Day of Judgment.
