National Security
Hong Kong has introduced it’s own version of National Security and Christians should be wary of it as it can be used as a tool against those who seek to convert public officials to the true faith.
First, Hong Kong says that freedom of religion is a basic right of those who live in Hong Kong as long as they don’t violate any current laws. While this sounds good we have seen that Hong Kong keeps changing the laws to satisfy their own agenda.
The duty of every Catholic is to convert the world. This means going out and trying to convert those around them and have them turn from their previous lives. Most of the time Catholics get ignored or mocked but there are a few times that someone listens to reason and converts. This is always a glorious day for the faith.
Now with National Security, converting government officials may put you at risk. Why? Simply because you have converted someone from a duty-bound (often Communist) oath to someone who puts God first. Thus, they abandoned their duties to Hong Kong.
According to the proposed law, this is against the law. It doesn’t matter if there is any intention of violence or not. The fact is that someone gave up their former life and embraced a new one. This makes the missionary an enemy of the state.
Those of us who live here are beginning to understand what St. Peter must have felt when he went to Rome. The heart of the Roman Empire and trying to convert them. He was put to death for his beliefs. Those of us who are here may also be arrested and sentenced simply for doing our duty to God and the Church.
