November is the month dedicated to remembering the Holy Souls in Purgatory who can not help themselves but require our assistance. Therefore, in a spirit of Christian charity we should pray and sacrifice for their release. Because one of the saddest facts of life is that the living so soon forgets the dead. They are forgotten when they lived: they are forgotten when they die. St. Monica, on her deathbed, pleaded with her son, St. Augustine: “Lay my body anywhere, only this I beg of you: remember me at the altar of God.”
