It has finally happened in Hong Kong. Someone got shot. It was a F.5 (Grade 11) student who was shot in the chest. Right now the victim is expected to survive but who knows for sure.

Looking at the video it is not clear if the police officer actually intended to shoot or just threaten him. The video shows the officer drawing his weapon and pointing to the student. Police have been trained that when they pull out their weapon they can be expected to use it.

The officer then points it to the student and then the student hits the arm of the officer. It was soon after this the officer shot the student. What it on purpose or an accidental shooting? It is too early to say for sure. But what is clear is the protesters are now claiming all Hong Kong Police are murderers. The police have confirmed the shooting but have said nothing else.

If it wasn’t so serious it would be funny that the protesters have long said, “I’d take a bullet for Hong Kong.” Here is a bullet and no one seems happy. I’m sure his parents and friends are not happy either.

As for the police officer involved in the shooting…I would doubt that he is happy with the shooting and the unwanted publicity that he is getting. Protesters see him as a murderer and I really hope he sees himself remorseful.

It is at times like these prayers are needed the most..for both people. But if they had prayed the Rosary at the beginning of the summer then the shooting may not have happened. Now prayers are needed not only for the victim and the officer but for all of Hong Kong that the next protests are not one of revenge.
