On Sunday there was a prayer meeting in which we did not attend nor would we if we had known about it. The Catholic Church prohibits Catholics from participating in inter-faith services. But this is not the issue of this post.

It has been reported that they were told to pray for the government. This is perhaps the smartest thing they have done since the beginning. But it wasn’t enough. They should also pray for themselves and the ending of the violence.

One person, and perhaps more, said they would never pray for Carrie Lam because she never listens. This is why you need to pray for her. Jesus showed compassion for everyone and not just His followers. He took the time to explain His teachings to everyone even if they never listened.

God never takes sides in conflicts like this. And neither should the protesters take sides in whom to pray for. For deciding whom to pray for is not following the teachings of Jesus and this shows what kind of person those people are. Perhaps this is why the protesters will lose because they have no compassion for those who don’t listen or follow them. Pity.
