Reflection
It is now Sunday morning and another day of watchfulness awaits all who live and work in Hong Kong.
The violent protests have ended and Saturday was peaceful considering what occurred the previous several days. But was anything accomplished with violence? The sad answer is “no” because neither side changed their demands or positions.
Sure, both sides engaged and learned different tactics but nothing has changed and everyone is waiting for Monday to see if anything will happen. We expect either nothing or another week of violence to happen. We will have to wait and see.
This past week has also been a week of death and injury. But then it is nothing new because Hong Kong has been spiritually dead since the beginning of the protests. They just don’t care about their souls (or the souls of others) but only care about violence to the other side.
The lack of religion is the saddest thing that this protest has brought out. Perhaps it can change; perhaps not.
