God promised Adam that a Redeemer would come. God never said when or where the Redeemer would be but over time it was revealed to the Jews. They waited and waited. They waited for 4,000 years and when the promised Redeemer finally came the Jews continued to look elsewhere.

Hong Kong is the same way. Both sides keep looking forward to a redeemer but they are looking for the wrong one. Instead of seeing the teachings of Christ, and His church, they continue to look for someone to end the protests (but for only one side and the other side needs to be vanquished).

In Hong Kong it appears that both sides have found their redeemer not in a lowly manger but inside the gates of Hell. They see their redeemer as someone who would bring victory to them and crush the other side. Neither side will give quarter to the other.

One of the signs of the coming of Christ was that the world would be at peace. It was under the peace of Rome. Now, perhaps, Hong Kong will bring their redeemer under the peace of China. Only then will both sides see what they have lost.
