Borders
Recently Carrie Lam closed some of the borders. We suspect it was reluctantly but she did so. However, it appears to be a case of too little and too late.
First, the crossing points with China that are still open now how more busses on them. This creates more crowding and more chance of infection to anyone who happens to be in the area.
Second, the infection is now being transmitted in HK by people who never been to China recently. This means more and more people are at risk to get the virus.
Carrie Lam doesn’t seem she is able or wants to listen to professional advice. She continues to do things her way and it doesn’t matter what the rest of HK thinks.
Current models suggest that up to 44,000 people may die in HK if measures are not put into place to check the spread of the virus. Thanks to open borders this number may become a reality.
If many people die in HK then the blame will rightly be placed on the HK government. It is only when they die that justice will be served. We can only hope that they will listen to professional advice before they meet God.
