Suppression of the press
Hong Kong has shut down a vocal, newspaper opponent of the government. First, they raided the offices (at least twice), arrested senior officials, and confiscated the money.
Then they said that anyone who supports this newspaper is in violation of National Security laws. But people went out and bought its papers. On the day the newspaper shut down people lined up to get the final edition.
The government said that anyone who lined up is in violation of social distancing rules. But the people just ignored them, stood in crowded lines, and waited to buy the final edition.
It is assumed, by the people, that government believes that by shutting down this opponent that everyone will simply fall in line. That fear will control what the media, and people, will say in the future.
Fear only works for so long. Sooner or later, fear runs out and people will believe they have nothing to lose. Rising up against oppression may not be on a grand scale but within small groups and organizations.
We have already mentioned this on a few occasions. But in the end, those who try to instill fear into the HK people will die and have to face the judgment of God for their actions. If they believe that nothing will happen to them they will be sadly mistaken when their time comes.
Our Lady of China, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
