Policy Address
On 6 October, Carrie Lam made her final policy address for this term. It wasn’t much of a surprise as it was told to China but not the people of Hong Kong.
She mentioned over and over getting closer ties with China and how this will help Hong Kong. She never mentioned how she proposes to heal the rift between various Hong Kong factions. Maybe she doesn’t know or care. Or perhaps she figures that waving the flag and being bombarded with “patriotism” is all that is needed. We don’t know.
Perhaps because of her snubbed to the people of Hong Kong she never once mentioned anything about faith, hope, or charity. These are the foundation of any society.
She also never mentioned God. She gave thanks to China but not one word of thanks to God. Perhaps she sees China as her new god.
