1 July is the date Hong Kong celebrates its return to China. It is also the Feast of the Precious Blood of Jesus. May the Blood of Our Savior reign down upon the people of Hong Kong and have mercy on all of us and save the people from the ruinous path they are headed on.

What ruinous path? The path of Communism and the destruction of religion. The current Chief Executive once claimed he was a Catholic but, in three years, he has done little to show that he even cares about it. He is more interested in pleasing China than pleasing God and his soul.

The path of Communism may seem wonderful, but it is full of deceit and traps that even the most strong may lose their soul because of it. There is still time to change course and return to God. But Hong Kong has made its choice, and there doesn’t seem to be any chance of a change.

We have also seen the President of China state that ‘all power is granted by the people’. We do not blame him for this error because many people think this is true. It is one of the many beliefs that people believe to be true. Thus, they wish to change governments because of it.

However, the Church has spoken “Those who believe civil society to have risen from the free consent of men, looking for the origin of its authority from the same source, say that each individual has given up something of his right, and that voluntarily every person has put himself into the power of the one man in whose person the whole of those rights has been centered. But it is a great error not to see, what is manifest, that men, as they are not a nomad race, have been created, without their own free will, for a natural community of life. It is plain, moreover, that the pact which they allege is openly a falsehood and a fiction, and that it has no authority to confer on political power such great force, dignity, and firmness as the safety of the State and the common good of the citizens require. Then only will the government have all those ornaments and guarantees, when it is understood to emanate from God as its august and most sacred source.” -Diuturnum, 1881.

We can only hope that he, and everyone else, will realize their error and correct it before it is too late for them to change.

The time to change is never late, but many will never change because they don’t know how. What is the secret? Say the Rosary. But who would believe it?
