November

November is the month dedicated to the souls suffering in Purgatory. It is the month where the Church offers incentives for those of us who are living to pray for the dead.

November starts off with the Feast of All Saints Day. What is a saint? It is anyone, known and unknown, who makes it to Heaven. These are the people who are our role models and some of them have sufferred in Purgatory and know the pains there.

Why should we pray for those who are dead? No one wants to be forgotten. Think of those souls who have died and no one prays for them. How do you think they feel? They are forgotten, and their pains are not eased by any prayer. It is a sad life for those souls.

If we pray for them, then their suffering will be lessened, and the time they spend in Purgatory will also be less. This is charity. Would you not want someone to pray for you if you are suffering in Purgatory? The more you pray for the souls that are there now, the more someone will pray for you.

In the end, when you are called to Judgment, those souls that you help release will be there as well. They will plead on your behalf to God that there is a soul that is worthy and who, by charity, has helped others. Isn’t that worth a prayer for the dead?

We can not promise that you will not suffer in Hell, but we do promise that those souls will do all they can to help you. The more you help, the more souls that will help you on that fateful day.

Also, we suggest that during this month you visit a cemetery. Look around and see how many have no visitors? How many are forgotten by the world of today? Pray for them because no one else will.
